Where Tasmania’s unique wildlife abounds
A Protected Area on Private Land (subject to a Conservation Covenant), Base Camp Tasmania abounds in native Tasmanian wildlife (we are registered Wildlife Carers) including Pademelons, Bennetts Wallabies, Echidnas, Wombats, Spotted Quolls, and Brushtail Possums. Discover the variety of unique Tasmanian animals, birdlife and flora on this 41 hectare property, or take an easy drive to some of Tasmania’s most renowned World Heritage wilderness areas and National Parks a short distance away. Accommodation suits a range of budgets and comforts for families, couples, groups and singles, and the tariff includes all bedding (doonas, sheets, pillows), towels, crockery and cutlery, cooking and kitchen equipment.
- Self contained cabin (for up to 6 people) with private facilities
- Clean and cosy dormitory/bunkhouse accommodation (10 roomy bunks) with rucksack storage
- Camping area overlooking the beautiful Glenfern Valley for ten 2-person tent sites
All guests have access to the communal facilities comprising:

All facilities are designed to minimize their environmental impact, using natural materials, recyclable waste systems, energy efficient power, and a natural water supply.
