Sustainability

Our Commitment

The Adventure Factor Pty Ltd is committed to operating responsibly within Tasmania’s unique and fragile natural environments. As a company delivering guided bushwalks (Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences) and mountain bike tours (Into The Wild), we recognise that the places we explore are the foundation of our business and must be protected for future generations.

We strive to minimise our environmental footprint, promote sustainable tourism practices, and foster awareness among our staff, clients, and community about the importance of environmental stewardship.

Energy and Resource Management

We actively monitor energy use across all sites and operational bases and continuously seek opportunities to reduce consumption. This includes:

  • Tracking power usage to identify areas for efficiency improvements.

  • Using energy-efficient lighting, appliances, and equipment where possible.

  • Encouraging staff to adopt energy-conscious behaviours in day-to-day operations.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

We operate under a reduce, reuse, recycle purchasing and waste management principle:

  • Preference is given to suppliers and products that minimise packaging and support circular economy principles.

  • All operational bases and vehicles are equipped with recycling facilities for plastics, paper, glass, and metals.

  • Organic waste is composted where possible to reduce landfill contributions.

  • Reusable items are prioritised over disposable alternatives in all aspects of operations.

Reducing Single-Use Plastics

To reduce the use of single-use plastics and disposable products:

  • Guides and clients are supplied with reusable water bottles and keep cups for use during tours.

  • A no plastic bag policy is enforced across all tours — each vehicle is stocked with reusable shopping bags for groceries and supplies.

  • We actively discourage single-use packaging and promote refillable options wherever possible.

Procurement and Supply Chain

We consider environmental sustainability in all purchasing decisions, including preference for:

  • Locally sourced products and produce to reduce transport emissions.

  • Recycled and recyclable materials.

  • Suppliers with demonstrated environmental credentials.

Education and Engagement

We encourage all staff, guides, and guests to participate in our sustainability efforts by:

  • Promoting “leave no trace” principles on all guided experiences.

  • Providing information on responsible travel and environmental care.

  • Empowering guides to model sustainable behaviours and share knowledge with guests.

Continuous Improvement

We regularly review our sustainability practices and seek new opportunities to enhance environmental performance, reduce emissions, and improve resource efficiency.

We welcome feedback from staff, clients, and partners as part of our ongoing commitment to responsible tourism and environmental protection.

Review and Accountability

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure relevance and effectiveness. Responsibility for implementing and maintaining this policy rests with company management, supported by all employees and contractors.
