Single-Day Tour Inclusions/Exclusions

On our single-day guided walks, we provide you with all you will need (excluding personal items) – transfers from your Hobart accommodation, waterproof and warm clothing, lunch and snacks, a day pack to carry protective clothing and even toilet paper!

On single day walking tours, we include the following services and items at no extra charge:

  • Transfers from your Hobart accommodation to the tour destination (usually between 7:30-8:00 am) and return at conclusion of tour
  • Choice of destinations to suit client preferences and forecast weather conditions
  • Waterproof hiking parka
  • Waterproof overpants
  • Fleece jacket (choice of 300 or 200 weight fleece)
  • Waterproof gloves
  • Gaiters (depending on tour destination)
  • Daypack to carry protective clothing
  • Lunch (prepared by your guide on the track); beverages; snacks
  • Toilet paper; hand sanitiser (alcohol based)
  • Qualified and knowledgeable guide/s
  • Comprehensive first-aid kit (carried by guide/s)
  • Emergency communications (PLB (Personal Location Beacon) and/or satellite phone, carried by guide/s)
  • All necessary park passes and permits

Not included:

  • Sunscreen, blister protection, insect repellent, any personal medication
  • Stout walking shoes (well worn-in)
  • Long-sleeved shirt (preferably synthetic for quick drying)
  • Hat or beanie
  • Camera, spare film/SD card and batteries (optional)


Notes:

  1. Some destinations in Tasmania, especially exposed areas, can be very cold and windy, and you need to consider possible weather conditions when selecting your tour destination (call us if in doubt)
  2. Please advise your booking agent (or us if booking directly) your clothing sizes so we can select correctly sized garments for you
  3. Advise your booking agent (or us if booking directly) if you have any special dietary needs or preferences
  4. You are welcome to use your own personal clothing, but check with us if you doubt its suitability

Multi-Day Tour Inclusions/Exclusions

On our multi-day guided walks, we provide you with all you will need (excluding personal items) – airport transfers, waterproof and warm clothing, tents, meals and even toilet paper!  Tours which start and end west of Hobart include pre- and post-tour accommodation at Base Camp Tasmania.

On multi-day walking tours, we include the following services and items at no extra charge:

  • Airport or city transfers
  • For tours starting and ending west of Hobart, pre- and post-tour dormitory accommodation at Base Camp Tasmania with two home-cooked evening meals and two breakfasts
  • For tours starting and ending east of Hobart a pre-tour briefing with refreshments in Hobart
  • Waterproof hiking parka
  • Waterproof overpants
  • Fleece jacket (choice of 300 or 200 weight fleece)
  • Waterproof gloves
  • Gaiters
  • Two-person tent (shared)
  • Sleeping-bag (synthetic fill, rated to -5?)
  • Silk sleeping bag liner
  • Sleeping mat (choice of standard or lightweight long or lightweight
    three-quarter length)
  • Trekking towel
  • Inflatable pillow
  • Rucksack (male 75 L, female 65 L)
  • Waterproof pack liner
  • Lunches when on the bus to and from tour

  • Handkerchiefs
  • Thermal top
  • Thermal longs (leggings)
  • Solid leather lace-up walking boots (well worn-in)
  • Woollen socks (three pairs, “Explorer” or equivalent)
  • Long-sleeved shirt (preferably synthetic for quick drying)
  • Long pants (best with zip-off shorts, preferably synthetic)
  • Hat or beanie
  • Lightweight camera, spare film/SD card and batteries (optional)

Notes:

  1. We use the evening before your tour leaves to fit you with
    your gear, introduce you to your guides, and answer any questions
    you may have about your tour
  2. Always choose synthetic fabrics (which dry quickly if wet) rather than cotton
    or wool (which don’t)
  3. Don’t bring any superfluous gear – we aim for the lightest possible
    load in your rucksack
  4. Let us know well beforehand if you have any special dietary needs

Multi-Day Accommodated Tour Inclusions/Exclusions

On Accommodated Walking Tours, we include the following services and items at no extra charge:

  • Qualified guide/driver
  • Mini-bus with luggage trailer
  • Twin-share accommodation where nominated however we reserve the right to use alternative accommodation if necessary
  • Meals – Day 1: Dinner (2-course); Days 2 – 14: Breakfast (hearty continental), Lunch (packed for bushwalking), Dinner (2-course); Day 15: Breakfast (hearty continental)
  • Guided walks as described, but we reserve the right to modify the walk or select an alternative destination as deemed appropriate by our Guide(s)
  • All necessary park passes and permits
  • Lake St Clair ferry fare (not applicable to North & East Tours)
  • Maria Island ferry fare (not applicable to Western Tasmania Tours)
  • Gordon River/Macquarie Harbour Cruise
  • Comprehensive First Aid Kit
  • Emergency communication equipment – PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) and/or satellite phone
  • Protective shell clothing (jacket and overpants) if required – please nominate garment size when booking

Not included:

  • Underwear (we recommend thermal longs)
  • Footwear (we recommend solid worn-in walking boots or shoes)
